Yesterday three of our young chickens died and I have looked on line and in the chicken books I have trying to figure out what they might have died from. If you have any idea please let me know. Here are their symptoms: Tuesday they looked fine, eating, drinking, and being normal. Wednesday (yesterday) when I went out in the morning they were sitting on the perch all fluffed up like they were cold, they were not interested in food or water. Normally they are starving first thing in the morning because they normally spill their food in the evening and think that it is below them to eat it once it is on the coop floor. We separated them from the other seven they live with and put them in a large dog crate with food and water because the other chickens were being their normal rambunctious selves. They were not interested in the food or water and pretty much slept most of the day. In the late afternoon when I went to check on them all three were dead. It looked like they died in their sleep because they were still in the same position that they had been most of the day in the crate. This morning five more look all fluffed up. My mom is taking the three that died for an autopsy today along with a fecal sample. Oh yeah ~ they had blood in there poo.
