my twoand a half month old female pekin duck started acting drunk yesterday couldn't hold her head streight. ttoday she couldn't walk well and kept falling down, now she is on her back, we fear she may be close to death, is this riemerella anatipestifer infection {new duck disease} can she be helped at this point or is it to late?

is it like a seizure? i lost 2 pekins to something like that they stumbled and it was almost as if there legs would not hold them up they acted lethargic and then we just found them dead i have no clue what happened but i hope yours will be ok

It came on slow and progressed so i don't think it's seizure activity she is in the house tonight per vets advise and will be seen tomorrew if she survives the night she can hardly breath and can't walk any more we haveforce feadsome water but she chokes on it. two days ago i couldn't shut her up now she can't make a sound. My three kids are so upset,

I am glad you are taking her to the vet... she is very ill so you do not want to "guessaround" with advice which may or may not help > good luck

I would lean toward vitamin deficiency. I have a saxony that did the same thing, and I started her on pol-vi-sol (no iron). My runners did fine with the food I was feeding, but the saxony did not! It took a couple of weeks, but she pulled through! I thought for sure she was going to die, I am happy to say that she is wonderful now! Good luck!
