Hey all..
One of our hens, Tiramisu, our Speckled Sussex, started being sick Tuesday night. She was laying down in a corner, head down, feather a little ruffled, and lethargic. We bought her Polyvisol (no iron) drops and fed 2 drops to her yesterday at morning and evening, and have had her cooped up in a large pet carrier with fresh food and water. She's barely eating or drinking, but readily goes after a little scratch. The coop is always kept dry and clean and the other hens are healthy as ever. She is not her normal self- this is the hen who 'hates' me- she usually never lets me hold or pat her (and will sit on my shoulder instead, then warble), and will never squat for me either. She also hates small spaces and she willingly went into the carrier like she knew what was going on. She's easily our smartest hen and is very dominant. She's my fiance's baby and doesn't accept anything from me except treats, lol.
Anywho... yesterday and straight through now, she's been barely eating or drinking, and has perpetually just been laying around. I know the vitamins will boost her a little, and she's not egg bound. (She did lay a GIGANTIC turd yesterday that she'd been saving up until I was giving her the vitamins- go figure!)
What can I buy her that will remove the chest congestion? Her normal sounds are muted and raspy, and when she breathes, there's a thick rattling sound. Tiramisu is a year old. Also, my fiance simultaneously has been having asthma issues; I doubt the two are related, but is it possible?
Thank you!
