Hello!
I have a light brahma pullet who started limping a few months ago and we looked her over several times but could not find anything wrong and it didn't seem to bother her that much. Anyway today she is sitting there and doesn't seem to be able to walk. She can flap her wings though. What does anyone think could be wrong with her?
I think I read while ago that a sign of mareks is limping for no apparent reason and then recovering and then suddenly being very ill. She didn't recover though so I dont know if thats what she has? She was not vaccinated for mareks.
Thanks in advance for any help.

:(:hugsI'm so sorry, any loss is always tough. Sending her to your state lab for a necropsy may be a good idea. It could give you a clue as to what happened. Then, if any of your other birds start showing symptoms there may be something you can do to treat.

So sorry for your loss. It would be good to keep her body cold, and take or send it to your state vet between M-F to get a necropsy. They can look for Mareks signs, and do a test for Mareks if need be, to get a diagnosis. It can be helpful to know if that is why she died, or if any other show signs. Here is a list of state vets and there are two in Augusta and Orona that you can ask about:

Thank you. My dad buried her so I dont know if we can still do that?

Thanks. Do you have any idea how much that would cost? I dont have a lot of money to spend on that kind of thing but I guess it would be better than buying a lot more chickens or medications for all of them.
We could dig her up I guess but could we still send her in?
