I'm getting dy old Japanese banties in the spring. I've never had banty chicks that were really that small.

The only thing I've been told is to put their chick starter in a blender to make it a little smaller for them. Is normal chick grit goign to be too big?

I would really appreciate any tips on what to do different with these guys. I'd love to see a photo of one with some size reference so I'll know what to expect.

Help! Please!!

If your feeding chick starter you do not need grit.

Isnt really small what banties are all about?

Temps and such are same for REAL chickens, just dont need as much space.

they will be about the size of a C battery

My japs were the size of an OEGB full grown maybe just a tad bigger but not much.

In this pic there is 1 serama roo, 1 dutch hen, and 1 black tail buff japanese all tucked into one nesting box

Jmajors thats exactly where i got it but it was intended for my spoiled chunky cat, she snubbed it so i took the cushion out and gave it to the chickens lol. Costed me $5 on clearance

. Wildsky he thought he was king that day, figured if he buttered up the girls he would get some action.

I caught my little roo in a nest box once, he was HUNTING around trying to figure out why the girls were all going in and taking turns.. I bet he though I was hiding treats in there!

Looking for pics of the chicks!
I've petted adulted JB's and have Dutch banties, but I'ver never seen their chicks in person. All the pics I've seen are just of the chick standing by itself with no size reference.

I am NOT going to let my husband see that luxurious next box or he'll be complaining about the dishpan nest's I made for his JBs.
