Hey everybody, I wanted to try and get my goose to go broody. She's a 2 year old Toulouse goose. She's been paired with 3 males. Last year she was alone and went broody on her own, so I decided I'd try again now that she's with some ganders. I stopped taking the eggs away one week ago, she built her nest out of hay and started laying, she laid 3 eggs, maybe 4. Today it's raining, so It wasn't a surprise when she wouldn't come out of the coop, but when I went to check I saw the three ganders guarding the coop door and she is sitting on the eggs, in a weird way too since they aren't completely covered. Has she already gone broody? I thought she should of laid at least 8 eggs before doing that, and why is she not covering them all completely?

Geese are a funny lot. I have one female Toulouse that is currently broody and sitting on a completely empty nest. No changing her mind either. Then we have four others that are sharing a nest but no one is broody enough to sit the nest.
Lol, it was a false alarm anyway, looks like she was just laying the fourth egg and covering it with hay. Hopefully she'll go broody once she gets to 10 eggs or so :)
