Yesterday I bought 3 new pullets from the same breeder I bought my other chickens from. My others are now 2 months old. These girls are supposedly 3 months old, but they look like they are about the same size as my 8 weekers. But that's beside the point. The chickens at the breeders house all looked very healthy. They have a nice set up and their animals seem to be well cared for. Eating, drinking, pooping, flying, no obvious sores or bugs or anythings. The girls I picked out did not seem to have lice, missing feathers, scaly leg mites, etc. So we brought them home. Two Red Stars and one Barred Rock.

I put them in a biggish brooder for quarantine. They were eating and drinking okay and slept fine all night. They seem rather listless, though. My other chickens are total spazzes and these girls are just kind of really mellow. I chalked that up to the stress of the move.

This afternoon I noticed the BR looked like she was trying to poop with no success. I picked her up and found her feathers around the vent had poop on them (they didn't yesterday when I bought her), so I brought her in the house and cleaned her up and dried her off and took her out on the porch to snuggle. The vent itself looked just fine. Clean and health looking. She sat with me very quietly, which to me is weird. My other chickens will sit with us for a couple minutes and them go find something more fun to do.

She pooped in my lap. Awesome

. It was not like any chicken poop I've seen. See pic. Yellow and red and black.

Are my new chickens sick? If so, what might they have? What can I do for them? Should I just bring them back?

i just brought them some scrambled eggs. The two Red Stars are trying them (they've never had treats), but the BR isn't eating. She had another one of those nasty poops again. Looks quite gelatinous in parts and then there was some sort of red stringy thing in the more solid part. Not a worm.

I'm worried!

I'm sorry I'm bumping this, but she keeps having poops like the one in the pic and is not eating or drinking. Her comb is pale. The woman I bought her from is very worried about the rest of her flock and she looked at the picture and does not know what it might be. Anyone have an idea?

If she is turning pale that quickly try electrolytes in her water (?) It should help with the paleness/weakness, but the poop.......

[edited for typo]
