Hi! I’m well aware that this is quite a silly question BUT what does cull
mean? I know it has something to do with killing roosters.

Cull just means to remove. From the flock or a breeding program usually. It can be used to mean killing something to remove it but that's not always the case.

Kill, Sell or Re-home... In some other regions it does mean 'to Kill' so there's always confusion when it's mentioned.

Cull means kill or remove. It has nothing to do with roosters but that's not uncommon advice here on BYC.

Typically it means selective removal (often killing) of animals. Either to reduce population, prevent spread of illness, or selective breeding.
