Hi there everyone. I need some help with one of my chickens. Yesterday I noticed she seem unwell, her comb and waddles were discoloured and yellowish, and she seemed a bit tired. Overnight she worsened quickly. She’s keeping low with her tail down, not moving much, has eaten a little but not much, and her poops have almost no substance. One thing is, she is a very old hen, the youngest she could be is 7 years old, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is simply dying of old age. However, I want to be sure this is the case, as I wouldn’t want her to die if it was treatable. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Can you post any pictures of your hen, her comb and wattles, and how she stands? Has she laid eggs recently? Can you try and get her to eat some moistened chicken feed and cooked egg? Water with electrolytes would be good.

Thanks for the advice. She’s very old and hasn’t laid eggs in a few years. I’ve already given her some wet chicken food and she ate a bit, but when I picked her up she was quite light. I’ve also separated her from the other chickens to keep her safe. I’ll see if we have any electrolytes.
It might be a bit hard to see with the lighting but her comb is quite discoloured. Thanks again.
