What did you do in the garden today?

As a follow up here is a picture of the apples we collected yesterday after making the mistake of walikng back to look at the apple trees. These were on the ground with many more still hanging on the tree. as of today about a fourth of them have been peeled, chopped and processed into 7 quarts of apple pie filling for the pantry with a bit lefover for an apple crumble tomorrow.
I love this!

Are your guys tomatoes on time this year? I see some of you are picking quite a bit.
I got tomatoes earlier this year than ever before. I canned 5 quarts last week, and 2 more yesterday.

I'm at the point where I have too many to eat fresh, but not enough to do a full canner load (7 quarts). I have to can them a few jars at a time to keep them from spoiling.

I got impatient waiting for enough peppers to make a full batch of hot sauce so I am making a half batch. I added in a dried ghost pepper so it should end up being very hot. I was tempted to add in a dried chocolate scorpion pepper but I thought that would probably end up being too hot

It's starting to heat back up and get hot again. 😞 Yesterday it was 63 degrees when I went out to feed animals. How badly I wish it would stay like that! 😢 Starting tonight I'll have to go back to putting frozen water bottles in the water troughs again....

At least I got the hoop house cleaned out while the weather gave me a break.

it ended up on the thicker side so I put it in a jar. It is really good. I got around 5 oz

The Canadian wildfire smoke has made it’s way this far east. The air is so bad today and unfortunately all week. I picked peas earlier this morning and I had planned on skipping the pole beans but there were quite a few begging to be picked so I did and got another half pound. I went up the hill and picked another half pound of berries. Five of the ten SM tomato plants are doing much better and three have buds on them. It won’t be a big harvest but not a total loss. I checked the grapevines and the smaller vine with the smaller grapes is definitely not a Concord grape. Now to figure out what it is. So I only have one Concord vine producing this year. Frustrating. The other gardening frustration I’ve got going are the Vates Curly Kale seeds I purchased from a vendor on Amazon. I’ve been patient but I’m 95% sure these are not young kale plants.

The stems are purple so I’m not sure if they’re even an edible plant. Has anyone seen kale like this before? This is the seed packet.
