What did you do in the garden today?

As a follow up here is a picture of the apples we collected yesterday after making the mistake of walikng back to look at the apple trees. These were on the ground with many more still hanging on the tree. as of today about a fourth of them have been peeled, chopped and processed into 7 quarts of apple pie filling for the pantry with a bit lefover for an apple crumble tomorro

Your future self eating a delicious apple pie this winter will thank you!

I don't own a cell phone for easy pictures in the garden, sorry to not be helpful. I can tell you they grow just like tomatoes but don't vine out as much. Still can get very unruly so next year I will space them a little farther apart than seed packet recommended, just so I can harvest a little easier around them.
This was my first year growing them, an experiment. They don't taste good right off the bush. If you grow them just take my word for it, and don't taste them raw. Yuck! But if one plant can make multiple meals, its a keeper for my garden. Trying garlic meatballs in that huckleberry/plum sauce next, served with rice poblanos and carrots. Betting those flavors will meld well.
This makes me want to try and find a spot in my garden for them!

It's only in the 60's here today which is wonderful, but incredibly strange. I saw the forecast so started roasting beef bones in the oven yesterday then put them in the big roaster to make broth. Canned that up today.. walked through my garden and saw the carrots are bolting. What in the world. It has to be this crazy weather. First onions and now carrots. The rest of the garden seems to be doing pretty good for now. We are just now starting to get ripe tomatoes. Much later than normal. Are your guys tomatoes on time this year? I see some of you are picking quite a bit.

I’m shredding up a bunch of zucchini for freezing. This is the first time I’ve actually needed to use. I’m pretty sure it’s as old as I am 😅

My middle son got married yesterday. We just showed up they didn't have us do anything, extremely laid-back wedding.
Today we are packing the truck and trailer with all of their things to help them to move out to Wyoming tomorrow, and we're coming back on Friday.
My oldest son can't go so he's going to take care of all of our animals. We got the veggies picked and processed.

congrats!

Got 5 zucchini bread loafs (15 cups and around 6-7 pound) worth of zucchini all shredded and into the basement freezer. Not sure why I decided it was a midnight activity but oh well. I am happy that I proportioned the bags so I’ll just have to soak them in warm water and not have to worry about wasting any. I almost put it all into a gallon freezer bag but managed to think for once and stopped myself

Now it’s time to go clean up the giant mess I made :th
