It won't take them long before they will be in love. Especially him

JMO, but I really suggest at least one more female. When they start mating, it is so much better to have two girls to give each one a little break from the drake. I have heard many stories about over zealous drakes hurting or killing a lone female by over mating. Don't want to scare you, and am glad you were able to get your lone duck a friend, but after what you have gone through, it might be best to get just one more to even things up.
Hope they get to be wonderful friends soon. Love to see pics of them.

Well. It always depends on the drake.... My rouen drake only breeds with his mate if she lets him, if she runs away, he will let it go, but if she stands there ...... Well, you get the idea..... I think it depends on the drake, but you should get another hen.....

my drake had his mate that he was raised with take off and unfortunately i was unable to find any girls for him for a few months. this actually made him and i a little closer. now he has girls and when i'm around he doesn't pay attention to them.

i would suggest getting more ducks.. my mallards lost their head of the flock to a coon and they haven't really been the same since. poor babies.. more ducks then drakes is always preferred cuz drakes can get out of control.
