I want to use Vetrx for my pullets as a prevention. i’ve heard of some people giving a dose in water once a month or so. what dose/how much should i give? i have six 5-week-old pullets. thank you!

Welcome To BYC

What are you trying to prevent?
I saw somewhere that some people put it in their chicken’s water once a month to help with ensure respiratory health. I’m intrigued by that, so that’s why I’ve posted! Thanks for the welcome :) Just want to make sure i’m doing everything I can to promote my gals’ health. First time chicken owner.

A proper diet and a dry, well ventilated will do more for their health. :]

Vet Rx will not prevent respiratory disease, nor will it be an effective treatment if you do have respiratory disease. It's possible that it might give some temporary relief of symptoms much like Vapor Rub does in humans - not a cure, but just a remedy.

To help prevent respiratory disease, don't bring in a bunch of new birds from various sources like FB or CL. Use reputable breeders or hatcheries.
IF you ever bring in new birds, it's best to quarantine them for a few weeks of observation to see if they present with any type of illness.

Keep your coop/run relatively tidy and see that it has adequate ventilation year round. Even in winter, you want air flow in the coop.

Fresh feed, fresh water during waking hours.

Nothing is ever perfect and there is always a possibility that any of us could end up with respiratory disease in our flocks since it can be spread through various methods, but if you just take precautionary steps, hopefully you won't have any problems.

Good luck with your chicks!
