So I have a little flock of silkies, one of the young hens sneezes, not often perhaps 3-4 times a day. Other than that she is happy. I have ordered some vetrx to see if this will help clear it up however I wondered what the best way to use is, it seems you can add to water, rub on top of beak, put on top of the head or under wing and also give a direct dose. Seeing other threads about this it’s sounds like more of an oil than a liquid, will it damage the feathers if put on her head??? Any advice

Chicks can sneeze when feeding or if they get some dust in their nostrils. VetRx has nothing in it that can cure a respiratory disease or infection. It is made up of herbal oils and camphor—no better than Vicks. Make sure that your brooder has good overhead air circulation, and that the bedding is dry and clean. Poor ventilation, ammonia odor from droppings, and mold caused by water spills in the bedding, can lead to a respiratory infection developing.

Thank you, I understand all of this and their coop is squeaky clean and well ventilated. I am aware that it will not cure a respiratory infection but I don’t think that is what she has, having read up about vetrx there is a lot of positive feedback. Unfortunately the vets here either will not treat chickens or are ridiculously expensive. So I thought I would give this a try. She is the only one out of 10 that has this problem and has been like it for awhile, as she seems fine I’m herself and all the others are completely fine I don’t think we have anything more sinister. Thank you for your reply though it is really appreciated
