Hi,
Just got 10 chicks from My Pet Chicken and they are all fine but one is especially vicious to the others. Pecking at their eyes and getting hold of one and shaking it. I have put it back in the shipping box with its own water and feed and placed the box in the brooder with the others under the heat lamp. Is this ok to do and why is it,doing this and will it stop?

Be careful putting that box under the lamp, you could over heat and kill it if I can't get away from the heat.
Anyway, I seem to have an eye pecker/toe grabber in just about every batch of chicks I hatch or buy. Some of them are just like that. I leave them to it, and they eventually get over it and stop. I'm assuming eyes are shiny and little toes look like worms and their curiosity gets the better of them. If it isn't drawing blood or flat out injuring the other chicks, and theres plenty of space for them to escape the naughty one, I'd remove it from the box and let it run its course. But that's just me.

Good luck :)

It seems so mean. Especially when it wont let go. the ones that are being packed don't seem to have enough sense to run away they just sit there
