I'd suspect that she has difficulty absorbing Vitamin D and Calcium from her food. This appears to be rickets. That would be consistent with the straddle leg.
I'd increase the combined calcium and vitamin D in her diet. Be sure to limit the amount of grains for her (and in younger birds) as they're higher in phosphorus and a calcium/phosphorus balance must be correct for calcium to get used. This is called the "cal/phos balance".
btw avoid spinach as tho it's high in calcium, it's also high in oxyaltes that can bind the calcium and make it unusable.
Honestly were she mine, I'd get a cage bird supplement like Prime that has a little more calcium, but is balanced out and give that to her for the next month.
to go along with nathalies advice in rickets
absorbing vit D and calcium
you need to put the chicken on
3 tbsp of Apple cider vinegar for a week
then in two weeks put
2 tbsp of acv to a gallon of water for life of chickems
the ACV helps the bird to absorb calcium and vit D into their bodied
good diagnosis Nathaslie" threehorses"
should i keep feeding the chick starter and just add the supplements and the ACV or should i switch foods? how do i kknow if its a slipped tendon or ricketts? thanks for the replys.
Yes to chick starter, acv, and adding supplements.
Usually I don't think it's necessary to add supplements when you have a bird on a complete feed, but I think this little one just must have been missing nutrients in the yolk and might be one that just needs a little more. SOmetimes that happens. Hopefully this'll help.
