Is this chicken choking on food? She's doing it every time she eats when she's real hungry (runs across the yard full-bore kind of hungry). I don't see it happen when she's free-ranging the backyard or when we leave the food out all-day.

I think you should leave some layer pellets out for her all day. She's eating too fast. She won't overeat; chickens who free-range don't get fat.

Okay. I've been bringing food in because of the sparrows. I've heard sparrows don't like pellets so I'll have to start looking for those.
