OK so my friend gave me 12 eggs.... I think it is too many for her but She is sitting on them all...

A full sized hen can easily do 12. She'll rotate them around under her constantly. I wouldn't expect all to hatch, so on day 5- 7, candle them..on day 5-7, you'll be able to tell which ones to chuck and which to keep.

Are these going to be your first broody hatched chicks? How exciting. I remember my first broody. It was January, and I was so anxious that it would be too cold. I wanted to add heat for her, but an old timer told me they'd be just fine and they were! It was a little itty bitty silkie hen named Leila who did it. She was a WONDER!



This is her too with her silkie babies from her 3rd hatch and 2 adopted silkies that were already 2 weeks old when I got them, and she took them right in.
