Here is some video that I shot of my coop and run. The run is hidden under the deck stairs and isn't very big so we enclosed the bottom of our trampoline that the kids have outgrown. We put the chickens in the trampoline area about 3-4 days a week so they can get some greens and bugs and stretch their legs a bit.

Great idea! If someone needed to make it a little more predator proof they could always add sturdier fencing around it. Even has built in shade!

And yet another thing I need to keep my eyes open for at yard sales...

What a great idea! Loved the vid.

The beauty of it is that my chickens won't be able to roam into the neighbors yards, they have shade, they have protection from hawks, and we can move the trampoline around the yard so that the chickens get fresh pasture each week! The netting is just a plastic netting from Home Depot, bird netting maybe, and we used cable ties to secure it to the trampoline and used garden stakes to secure it at the bottom. It keeps our dogs out and the chickens in but I am afraid that if a fox or a neighborhood dog really wanted in they could easily do so an my hens would have no where to hide. We do move them back into their coop each evening so I feel like they are only out there during the lower risk parts of the day. So my chickens are neighbor friendly except when they scream their egg song each morning. does anyone have a remedy for that?

i gave ya a 5 star. That is great idea! I wish my yard was flat near the barn I would put our trampoline there. The kids always complain about the bugs in the evening while jumping. that would sure cut the #'s of bugs down.

I don't think I would allow children to jump on it while the chickens are underneath! Might scare them silly! Now I am wondering if it is possible to train the chickens to go from the trampoline area back to the coop without us having to herd/carry them? Is it possible to train chickens?

Oh My gosh how funny! I have that same setup!!!! Our tramp has bunnies under it full-time with an enclosed litter box as a bunny bed! The chickens are put in there if we go somewhere overnight so they will be safe. I used dog exercise pen fencing, fastened on with zip ties, it is more expensive but very sturdy and happens to be the exact same height!
I totally agree the best feature is that it can be moved around evey 2 days so there is fresh grass and also the lawn gets fertilized LOL
Great Job MacGyver!!!
