Very seldom freezes here. I guess I could add a little antifreeze.
JK -- some of you chicken folk are way too serious.
I'd probably drape a drop cloth around the pipes and hang a light bulb in there for heat. It wouldn't take much.
Or I could just drain the thing so it doesn't split - set out a pan and let the roosters peck through the ice.
One of those things I didn't think of since it's so seldom a problem here.
 
We get weeks of subfreezing days here - as low as 10 below, though that's rare. But not infrequently in the single digits and teens. If I were to duplicate your impressive model, I'd wrap the pipes in electric heating tape I guess.
 
PJCluck~ That should work. My bucket-nipple waterer hangs into the coop. I throw a bird bath heater in during the winter and it keeps things flowing.
