Viking Chicken Coop Complete

Great work! You can use that coop also as an ersatz alter to make sacrifices to Odin

Hi neighbor! I'm just up the road from you in Waco. I love your coop. Very nice indeed. Do you have any other ventillation other than the 2 windows and door slats? It got so hot here last year. I had to add more windows and a screen door to my coop and then it was still too hot. I then added water misters in their run along with fans. This year I have already bought a swamp cooler to try to keep the chickens cool. I still need to get it installed though. My runs are covered with shade cloth on the top and 2 sides. I leave one side open for watching chicken TV. I'm just telling you this so that you can be prepared in case we get that 107+ heat this year. I really love all the art work you put into your coop. I can tell it is a labor of love. Your rooster is beautiful! I haven't seen a chicken like that before. I've only been chicken "farming" for a year so I am still learning about all the breeds. Where did you buy your chickens? locally?

Lovely! But if that's only chicken wire covering the windows, your coop is vulnerable to a marauding raccoon raid. Consider replacing the chicken wire with welded wire. It's more secure.

cfdf - there is roof venting on the entire roof line then there are gaps between each board that let a bit of a breeze in

elmo - luckily we don't have a coon problem (knocking on head) we do have some foxes around. But they dont want anything to do with the roo

the yard is completely fenced in by an 8ft privacy fence, then they have chain link runs & either hardware cloth or chicken wire windows.
My flock(s) are urban chickens & completely spoiled rotten. Our biggest predators are hawks & eagles as we are less than a mile from Lake Belton

Glad you like the Roo, he is out making noise this morning already

I am hoping a few of the eggs in the bator are hens so he has more company, 1 more roo would be nice too.
The coop and run are large enough for a way bigger flock than I am going to put in there.

Next project is a matching green house, hoping to put in a tree in near the coop in the fall
