Hi......I'm from Grayson county Virginia and I'm getting more chickens tomorrow.

Once you get a rooster, it really starts to get interesting. I had hundreds of chickens when i lived in TN. I was always building more coops. Living near Gretna on the Pigg River now. Starting with guineas in July, the ticks are bad here.

Hey, what do I do with extra roosters? I don't want to kill them, but if I sell them, will they automatically be eaten by the buyers? They're young and healthy. I'm pretty sure we have 6, and I only need two...

Sometimes people want a rooster or two to protect or fertilize eggs so you may be able to sell them for that purpose if it bothers you that someone may eat them. Good luck!

Hello everyone in virginia! I live in Vienna and it seems like most people are far away from me. I have a small backyard flock of random hens (a standard ameraucana, a black australorp, a red comet, 2 silkies, 4 bantam ameraucanas, 2 OEG hens, a brahma, and a wyandotte). Speaking of hens though, Anyone in DC area want to share a hatchery order in the spring?
Another Vienna person ! :D Have you been discovered by animal control yet? is your flock doing well?

Please help. I have an absolutely beautiful lavender orpington cockerel but he's very human aggressive. We're first time chicken owners and we simply don't have the experience to deal with him (he was miss gendered) he's so sweet and protective of the hens. He always gives them his treats and keeps them company when they lay eggs. Do you think it's possible anyone would want an aggressive roo? He's making it very difficult to care for the other chickens. It would absolutely break my heart if we had to cull him :(

Unless you don't mind not getting to handle him, perhaps you can give him away to a local farm or rooster rescue organization in your city/state. Just make sure that the place you're giving your rooster away to is trustworthy; you don't want roosters entering into illegal cockfights.
