I was pulling some virginia creeper and of course had no idea what I was pulling till i got a rash this morning and have been looking it up, i have googled how to get rid of the rash but can't find anything! Does anyone know what can help get rid of this!? It might have had a bit of poison ivy in it to so I am already treating that. But i really hate having this and of course it's on my face even though I made a point NOT to touch my face who knows how I got it there.....

i think it got worse, I am going to a urgent care place tonight... i am not going to try and deal with this the last time I had something like this happen on my face it got REALLY bad and I don't want that to happen AGAIN

Hi. Did you figure out what to do with this stuff? I also have it and it is AWFUL. I have hundreds of tiny blisters all over me right now and feel defeated by this stuff. I was hoping that the chickens would demolish it but nothing seems to take care of it! Grrr.

If you've figured something out, let me know.

I hope you have recovered and don't have more outbreaks this season.

Virginia Creeper commonly grows interwoven with poison ivy so you may well have an ivy rash now. Google "poison ivy treatments" and you'll find lots of info. Some of it may even be useful!

I know that I don't have poison ivy in my yard-- I've got four kids and they are all over the yard and not a single itch. It's 'only' virginia creeper and it just about does me in. I've found nothing that helps. :(

Funny you should mention Virginia creeper. I just came in from pulling as much of it out of my front beds as I could before it got pitch dark out. lol It's part of my summer ritual.

Virginia creeper is not in and of itself a toxic-dermatitis causing plant, but individual people can have allergies to any kind of plant or animal, and certainly it is possible that someone can be allergic to Virginia creeper.

I pull loads of it and handle it a lot, with never a rash or problem. So, it sounds like an individual sensitivity. Benedryl might help, and using gloves and sleeve-guards (take a pair of ;ong tube socks with good elastic fabric, cut the foot part, and pull the "tubes" over your arms like sleeves) when weeding.

Sorry you're having such a reaction and hope you get some good medical help. I've got Virginia Creeper all over the place and I've never known it to give anyone an adverse reaction. It is commonly confused with poison ivy. They look similar but VA Creeper has 5 leaves whereas poison ivy has 3. I'd recheck that patch and make sure ivy isn't mixed in with it.

Some people are naturally resistant to poison ivy. My husband has never gotten it and he regularly weed-whacks a patch of poison ivy at the end of our driveway. Just because other's haven't gotten it doesn't mean its not there.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Well I ended up getting put on Prednizone and a cream, I was taking tons of vitamins to get it all dried up faster, I took MANY epsom salt baths, and oat meal baths. I couldn't believe this stuff!! I had SUCH a bad reaction to it, blisters ALL over my hands, I did have it on my legs, arms and a bit on my face but nothing was as bad as my hands, I actually couldn't move my hands my mum had to feed me because I had no way to hold the fork, I now have scars on my hands from it. :((
