Good morning @Lyndssxo08! How’s your hen doing this am?
Sadly I do not know ANY vets that treat hens. My vet told me how to humanly euthanize when/if the time comes where I have a chicken in dire pain. That was the best I found...
But I do have an acquaintance that lives not too far from you that I’ll ask. She has lots of chickens and works at a tractor supply so I’m sure she knows of some and probably has working knowledge too. I’ll keep you posted!

Just heard back ~ this is her response

“I have used Dr. Gast at Blue Ridge Vets in Purcellville, 540/338-7387...he is their farm animal vet and the only one you want to see there as the bird specialists will run up the bill with poorer results. There is a lady in Maryland who is supposed to be outstanding, but I’ll have to find her info. Meanwhile, one of the best sources of info is The Chicken Chick’s website...I have found her to be very sensible and she does her research. Lots of good info on chicken first aid and care in general.”

Don’t apologize! I appreciate the help! She’s starting to eat a little more, and I think I’m gonna take off work tomorrow to make sure to keep getting fluids in her!

That’s great news @Lyndssxo08! Sounds like tlc is the best road to her recovery. Which hen is sick?
I had a sick hen a few months ago. Scared me to death. Checked to see if she was egg bound which I found horrifying but she wasn’t... I think she ate something that didn’t agree with her as she recovered within a few days.
Oh I put a camera in the coop and a camera in their run! Having so much fun peeking on them while they sleep. And excited to know who my new layer is. I currently only have 3 pullets. Only one of which was laying but she started molting so stopped laying. And then surprise ~ new egg. Can’t wait for longer days so they all start laying I’ve barely had chickens a year so all this is so new to me

@Mrs.Megan Back last May I came home in the middle of the day to almost all my animals laying in my back yard dead, but my rooster Earl, my young poult Turk, and my duck Clyde with a shredded bill. It was HORRIFYING and surprisingly my one and only laying hen at the time (who always waited to lay an egg after I fed them in the afternoon) laid an egg early that day. I was completely heartbroken and obviously I ran inside to get that egg in the incubator right away. She is the chick I hatched and she's my baby - her name is Sarah. Such a sweet girl (I took her to work with me the first couple weeks of her life so she's attached to me like crazy). 2 Fridays ago I found her with a prolapsed vent and brought her into the house. She laid a shell-less egg the following day. We weren't able to get her to a vet until that following Monday evening, but stitched up her vent - by the time we made it home the prolapse had came out again and he had to stitch her up again the following morning a little tighter (but obviously we had to keep an eye on her and keep her in the dark to try and keep her from producing an egg). I cut her stitches Saturday and cleaned out her vent yesterday after a few baths - she seemed a little better and a tad bit more active. The vet came today to drop off some more shots to give her to help with pain and she ate some feed last night as well as some greens (been trying to get as much stuff in her possible along with pedialyte, calcium powder, and ACV). I have my camera on her and motion sensor on and she's gotten up a few times already this morning. So fingers crossed she makes it. The vet said the fact that she has made it this far is crazy and that it's a great sign she's still here with us. AHH the stress level has been nuts the last week and a half, so I'm hoping it's all uphill from here even though I'm sure she's been lovin' her bubbles bathes multiple times a day and the warmth of the house LOL. Just hopin for the best that's for sure.

Wow! Horrible but lovely story, @Lyndssxo08 and such a pretty hen. What mix is she? And how lucky that she actually hatched! We had a fox attack before Christmas and I lost 6 chicks that were 8 weeks old. Devastating. I have 6 more coming in a few weekswhich also gives me a feeling of ptsd. I might not let them out of the house lol.
So do you think it was a raccoon attack? I’m in awe that you did so much of this care for her yourself

@Mrs.Megan that's exciting! What type of chicks are you getting? I just bought a couple 3 month old blue laced wyandottes and a speckled sussex chick from a guy out of MD. They are the cutest little guys. Sarah's dad is a mut but mostly easter egger and her mom was a buff orpington. Her dad was one of the survivors of the attack - my sister in law literally had to chase down the fox to get him to finally drop Earl (her dad). He wasn't too injured and now he's looking better than ever thank goodness - her mom, not so lucky and I never found her I used to think foxes were cute, but after that I try and run over everyone that crosses my path! LOL.
