Virginia

It was 68 degrees on Wed., 50 yesterday, 28 this am and supposed to get colder thruout the day. Going down to 14 tonight. Bedford is not a fun place to be right now.

Good Morning VA Peeps!

As we all know - VA weather can easily go from one extreme to another within a matter of hours. Here in 'south central' VA it's cold (37 right now) and a little breezy. We're expecting a 'chance' of snow showers later today... I'm praying not.
So what's going on outside your window this morning?
woke up to a layer of that '4 lettered word,' that i'm getting to hate so much. fortunately from here looks like we've got a slight warming trend.

i've got 4 new cochins in quarantine in the house, but i'll need the brooder they're in monday for chicks coming in (that should have been here last monday but usps lost, thus arriving dead on wednesday). mcmurray hatchery is great about issues like that tho, and were very sympathetic.

OH NO! I'm so sorry about that shipment! That's just terrible. I can't imagine how someone could set a box aside 'till tomorrow' if it's PEEPING! I would like to think that I'd be staying late / making calls / driving it somewhere if I had to! Maybe even sneaking it home to feed them and bringing it back if necessary! geez.

You still planning to hatch out some BLRW and some of your super special EE's?

yes, i'm hoping to... depends how soon i can get my breeding pens built. the EE's are easy. it's the blrw that will be harder without the breeding pens. the EE's live with the dorkings normally.

i'll probably set the eggs early march (ee's anyways). or asap after that.

Are you going to be hatching some pure EEs or mixed? Do you have an EE roo other than Weebs?

Quote: i can do 'pure' ee only with weebs, who DID hatch from a very blue egg... and i'll be using him only when my pens are done. till then he's segregated with the blrw roos and other oddballs (cochins)...

for those who don't know Weeble, here he is in all his (funky) glory. 8)

all chicks from him will be either blue or splash based. probably mostly blue, since i only have 1 blue/wheaten/ish girl...

Quote: the only oddity, that is why it took practically FOREVER to figure out he was really a HE... he's never crowed.

hubby calls him the stealth roo, because he gets all the girls without the other guys realizing it. no crowing to brag, he's just there and gone LOL
