Hi all! I'm a new member here, from Northern Virginia. We ordered 10 chicks from Ideal (all pullets, various types), and I have to say, I was nervous about how they would survive the trip from Texas. They got here in one day, believe it or not, and all are healthy and active, so far! Keeping my fingers crossed! They are really chowing down on the starter feed.

Where in northern VA are you? I live near Lovettsville in northern Loudoun County which is about as far north as you can go in VA.

I want a Dexter cow! 1 and a half gallons of milk a day and easier then a full grown cow, cheaper too.

but then you'd have to get a couple pigs to feed out too... what else would you do with that much extra milk?

turn milk into bacon.
