Virginia

I'll post a pic of the 'chicken apartments' as soon as I get the last solid portion of the outer wall nailed this evening. The thought process is sort of slowed a bit and regular dimensions don't work so well when you have to work on a slope:) The chicken acres are almost all on a slope. Add to that the burn-out I am feeling after more than half of a year of constant building...

Need new homes for two Mille Fleur Belgium Bantams. Brothers are no longer getting along.

One will have to learn to be submissive to the other if you're keeping them together. I have about had all I can take with cockerels being mean and have decided to just sell all of certain breeds. I may have wished to keep more females but knocking off the boys while trying to tend them has worn me out. Unfortunately there aren't many people near me that have anything other than production breeds so it isn't even an option to sell my boys and buy a new one when I want to raise chicks later. I hope you find a solution.

This innocent looking boy started the meanness and it carried over to the other boy. Couple that with feathered feet and mountain winters- decided to sell all of the MFBD.

Hi, I appreciate your feedback. I never buy production. I got these as eggs from a lady whom had pics of her breeding stock. She had Blue Ribbon winners.

Hi Folks!

I'm looking for a pair of Embden Gooslings within reasonable driving range of Tappahannock, Virginia. Please send me a PM if you have any for sale.

Thank you!

Day 18 for my barnyard mix under a broody.

that we have some peepers this weekend and that she is a good momma. I can tell you that she wastes no time picking fights with the brown leghorns when she takes a break off the nest. You would think that I had more than one rooster battling for dominance

as for roosters fighting, I'm still convinced it's a breed thing... some breeds are more prone to squabbling than others. my cochins chest bump each other now and then but not seriously. the Dorkings will chase each other but one will concede quickly. the sfh just go about their business ignoring each other. even boys penned side by side will do an occasional nip at each other thru the wire but that's it. my Wyandotte's were a bit more aggressive with each other as teenagers but once the pecking order was established they were fine too.

my oeg were horrible, as were the sultan and d'uccles. they all got sold off, except the sultan, he went to freezer camp.

Ever heard of a female turning into a male?!? I know hens can begin to crow if males are removed but Oh My Gosh!

This pullet-the only silkie I have and a known pullet- has been crowing since I took the MFBD boys out. The kids didn't believe me and now I have proof! SHE has laid eggs and I even hatched a chick from her.
