ApiaryandAviary - I went through knee surgery last year.  I was home in three days and back to work in seven.  Off Crutches by the end of the second week and off the cane by the third.  If you follow your physical therapist's instructions you'll be back on your feet and feel much better in no time.  I haven't had my right knee done yet because the recovery time to get full mobility to be able to drive my truck to work is about 5 weeks and I can't afford to take that much time off just yet.

I was told that hip surgery is the easiest and the knee not so easy but I didn't find it to be at all difficult other than limited mobility.  I do work out a bit and had pushed hard to build up the muscles in both legs before surgery so that may have aided in my quicker recovery.  There were individuals who were in PT with me who had not fully recovered after five months while I was leaving the course at the end of five weeks.

Good luck and remember keep a positive attitude and know that the quality of life through two fully restored knees is so much more enjoyable you will be amazed at how much you've been suffering through and how great two good knees feel.

talking about local ordinances, guess I'm fortunate. but then again I bought property with my horses in mind, and chickens just follow suit. LOL

had someone coming up to look at some birds a while back. they took the wrong fork in the driveway and ended up at my neighbor's house. can't see it from here, but I can hear when they're mowing, music, dogs, etc. my customer asked 'is this where the chickens are?' and got a blank stare. they said they didn't know anyone with chickens. I have educated them since, with fresh eggs, but nice to know they didn't notice the rooster cacophony every day. (I had about 15 at that time).

This will be my last for the year so I plan to bring alot more than I listed here or craigslist.

Hope many attend. I planned to go to Eden, Nc but my unfortunate problems with knees prevented me from even walking. Steroids shots directly in my knees take the swelling down. Thank you everyone for advice, and how you yourself managed as I plan to hit the ground running. However I plan to sit alot or use my cane and walker at the swap on pavement. So if you see me sitting instead of my usual nervous standing I am not being rude towards anyone. It is just that difficult for me.

We all know our chicken babies, no one does it to make money. Money? What is that? I am not in this to make money off the chickens.
I am In it for the love of the chickens and to share our joy with others. This is my hobby that I love and want to share the joy. I know you love your chickens and want to share the joy, so, I feel for you that you have not been able to share your love and joy with others as
much as you want to do due to your Days being taken up. So here's to your being freed soon for Saturday mornings, just for Chicken Swaps.

Hello,
Please phone around you, starting with the closest Tractor Supply Company Store. Check with them to see if they allow Flock Swap/chicken Swaps/livestock swap/barnyard animal swap.

Some do and some don't. If they don't, please Don't take it out on them. It is not their fault. They want them bc they are good for business. HOWEVER the LandLord may not and other businesses in the shopping plaza may not, like a pet store. I know one TSC used to hold the swaps but the PET store in their strip mall threw fits bc it took business from them they claimed. So they complained to the landlord and had TSC stop all domesticated animal/barn animal swap and sells in the parkinglot. That is why I no longer go to that particular pet store any longer and prefer to drive 2 hours to a different pet store. Apparently they did not like competition and never heard that competition is good. Look at antique and second hand stores how they group together. Look at how the different car dealers place themselves by each other. Look at malls that place womens clothing stores next to eachother. That makes sense.

Someone afraid of a little competition? They must really have huge markups for inferior products to not want others selling in their area. I like it when I see many different types of restaurants in the same area. It just works. That system works. So beware of a Pet store nearby a TSC that is not allowed to hold swaps in their parking lot. There usually is a good reason so ask what their reason is and when they tell you their landlord does not allow it or their landlord does not allow it bc of the pet store down the strip mall on the other end. Then let the pet store at the strip mall know your shopping at another pet store bc they whined and moaned so much they shut down the pet swap out in the parking lot. Eventually they will feel the pinch and go along with it and they will see free enterprise does work and a little competetion does help. Really, we have to stand up for what we believe in.

I don't think it qualifies as northern virginia, but I do know there is one in Woodstock. It is run by Old Orchard Farms so if you are looking for Orpingtons, they have some of the best in the country.
