Crele OEGBs are so gorgeous so if there were crele orpingtons I'd get them no matter the protest of dh!! Without jumping too far into genetics about how many generationss would it take for something such as a new color to breed true?
it depends entirely what you breed him to. since crele is essentially barred on wild type, getting the barring would be easy, getting the wild type markings harder.

none of the other orp varieties use the wild type (e+) variety, so it just depends. breeding to black would be probably the easiest, since E is dominant and very obvious (and easier to get very good typed birds) but black is also capable of hiding other mutations too, that may affect the presentation of some mutations. (mahogany, black tail, Columbian, etc)

theoretically, presuming the black doesn't carry anything contrary to what you're looking for, first generation would be all black, some barred. keep them. breed them back to each other, you should get a few wild type from the mix, some barred, some not. keep the barred to use. breed back to black and the original sire, mixing up the genetics as much as possible with blacks to prevent serious inbreeding, always keeping birds at least split to e+ (visibly black but one parent was e+) that do have barring.

ok heck with it. I just talked myself into it. i'll take him. LOL

How close are you to the VAMC Salem parkinglot? Meet up with you on Friday, Saturday or Sunday at Noon. You pick which lot?

I'm planning on being in Roanoke tomorrow but don't know what time. supposed to pick up a GQF hatcher if we can meet up. looking at meeting him somewhere around 1 or so... so I could meet you later than that possibly.
2 or 3 pm, and which parkinglot. I need to know as soon as possible as I will be on the road soon. I know you would rather I deliver there than you pick up from my hubby way up here. I also plan to be in your area tomorrow also. If Saturday is better, please let me know.

Hello to all,
The metal roof building is up and we are waiting on the long side of metal that we decided to order after it went up. Wished we had ordered one side in the begining. We will install chicken housing on the side the metal roof will go on. We will do 8 runs, not all will be mine. 20x41 ft building and 8 runs, is 20x5 ft. I think big enough for each run. We have been down sizing the sheer numbers by finding homes for all the onsies. Onsies are where only one egg hatched out of a lot or two of eggs.
Still after to order a wood chipper.
Pics are not embredding? Will try separately.

Oh wow this is very tempting!! I'm about 15 Min. from Hillsville but I don't have any uses for any more chickens. Hope you find a home for them all!!!

If I can tempt you some more,...we still have some Phoenix Bantam pairs 6-12 months of age for free. I can meetup with you and give to you,....?

A&A, Sugar Cookie is home and in his bed.  thanks a lot for him, I think he'll fit in nicely.

I know he will have a good home with you. He is about 7 months of age and being an English Orpington he is still a growing boy.

If you change your mind about the Black Cochin Bantam baby boy let me know. He is in the cage with the accidental Chocolate Orpingtons born several weeks ago.

Once again, Thank you for adopting Sugar Cookie and being his new mommy.

Any recommendations on where to advertise extra roos and chicks for sale other than CL? I have someone coming to take 4 today, but that's due to an offline interaction. I plan to post in Buy-Sell-Trade today, but looking for ideas. I'm near Petersburg if it makes a difference. I'll process the boys if I have to at 18 weeks, but we're talking mostly Ameraucanas and Legbars - they won't have much meat judging by the Ameraucana roo I (reluctantly) took in!

This is a picture of Sugar Cookie he is in with the Buff and Lt Red girls, I can not sell their eggs because they are half breeds.

This is a pic of an English Crele Orpington from online. Dont know who owns him.

This is a picture of a box of eggs that I refused. No way will they get their paws on this sweetie. I would rather give Sugar Cookie away than sell him on rarebreedauctions and let the mail touch him.

I had a similar experience with the Post Office. Notice that they put my box in a bag as it was dripping the contents of the eggs. They still were trying to deliver it. These were Ayam Cemani eggs I was being sent as a gift from my sister.
