Floyd County, VA. Anybody close?

a few... I'm not, but not far.

Does anyone here know where to get organic layer feed? I have searched everywhere wih no luck /: a lot of places that are good don't have drop sites here. I'm in md but willing to go to va to get good organic feed

Sunrise farms, 540-337-3773 located near Staunton, if I remember... they do deliver if they have a truckload to all corners of the state, if I understand. we have a monthly drop in Christiansburg.

there are at least 2 breeders in sw va that have the SFH. ;) myself and the 'monster I created', Leigh (who has one of the most genetically diverse flocks in the region IMO).

every year there are two large swaps in Glen Allen, nicknamed Gilmanor. first Saturday of May and third Saturday of September. we are always there with as many birds as we can bear to part with. Hatching season for me will start near the end of February, so I should have a good assortment of chicks and sexed youngsters by then. check out the Facebook group Swedish flower hens usa for lots of pics of birds from around the country.

Sunrise has some black sex links they are raising right now.....I think they are 6-7 weeks old now. I should say they are raising them to sell. There feed is non gmo and they also have soy free. They told me that as of now they would not have organic because of the cost and they are within 15-20 minutes of Countryside.

Neighbors? LOL
What if they are reading backyardchickens.com and recognize your pics or something?
Maybe they have a good sense of humor and you were only joking. LoL
Some of my neighbors have chickens, they got them from me. I am sure many read backyardchickens.com and never make a comment on line. In fact I am certain.
My brother reads backyardchickens.com however he never goes online and makes comments. He reads forums on mixing feed etc.
Now I can tell you I have lived in neighborhoods that were beautiful homes, great location, and some of the people live miserable lives. One woman would go for walks morning and night taking notes and pics of things and then check to see if they had a permit for this or that, that they changed the color of the shutters slightly when they repainted. They planted a shrub without a permit. A tree died and they replaced it with a different type of tree. Oh, I could go on but you get the point. The fact is though, there was a fine from day of infraction to day of correction and fine must be paid gor each day and if not the HOA bill was turned over for collection. It must be paid or a lein would be slapped against the owner. Hoa's were recognized and upheld. An HOA is the lowest form of government. I would never live in another HOA. But it looks that is the wave of the future.
That is why we live out in farmland country. If We want pets or farm animals we will
Have them. I dont want to be told I can not have a cross in my yard. If I want to fly a flag I can. If I want to post a political election poster I will. It is my property. If my hubby wants to work on the tractor in the front yard he can. Now dont get me wrong, I dont want to live next door to a chop shop, a zoo, or a factory. So yes zoning is good.
I wonder what neighbors think when they see all my chickens? I am trying to let go of some. It os difficult to let go. I get attached to them easily. This time I will not be cliniging to any. I will be letting go as soon as hatched. Have a great day ladies. It looks like snow or rain.

Can you tell me more about these chickens, please? Personality, laying, etc......

How would I find out if there is anyone in or near Augusta County who has Swedish Flower hens?

Or maybe you are the closest?
