Where did you two origanally get your Svart Hona? That would help if people knew so they dont give you birds from the same lines. Have you tried Greenfire Farms? They're located in Florida. Pretty good lines.

Got mine from Orchard Hill Poultry in GA, which apparently has both GFF and Ewe Crazy stock. I hatched from eggs. So far they look great, but thought 3 more from someone local would be a good start for breeding. Here are all the Svart Hona breeders I know about, none in VA/WV:
Ewe Crazy Farms (GA) http://www.ewecrazyfarms.com/ - Sells on rarebreedauctions.com
Greenfire(FL) https://greenfirefarms.com/ - Sells on website and rarebreedauctions.com
BJs (MI) - http://www.bjspoultry.com/svart-hona.html - Sells on website
Cedar Crest Farm (OH) http://www.cedarcrestfarmandfeed.com - Sells on website and rarebreedauctions.com
Orchard Hill Poultry (GA) http://www.orchardhillpoultry.com/
Black Diamond Farm (?) http://www.black-diamond-farm.com/ourbirds.htm
Watters Ridge (TX) - http://www.wattersridge.com/svart-hona.html - sells on rarebreedauctions.com
I heard there might be someone in MD, but have yet to find them...
Whoa the breed learning center is so cool...anyone have hamburg's(hope im spelling it right) in or near Va? Leaning more towards the silver because i can safely coop them with overhead protection.
I had 3 hens and will never get them again. They were hawk targets, so the overhead protection is a must. They would also go off on their own, often deep into the woods, making a racket the whole time. All three eventually were hawk food.
