Well that's a blessing in disguise...I can't take that wintry mix or anything falling except rain in the spring and summer time.

Newbie in the Hampton Roads area. We live in an area of Chesapeak ethat is zoned agricultural, so we can have chickens, etc.

Does anyone close to there have chickens/chicks/eggs for sale? What types?

Heckel's Hens :

(snipped) Does anyone close to there have chickens/chicks/eggs for sale? What types

Because my older girls have been on strike lately, I've only got seven month old hatchery birds' eggs to offer. Both my chief roosters are mutts (from my brother's hatchery flock).

If all you want is some eggs to hatch and work out any "bugs" in your equipment or technique, I can get you some eggs! My birds are healthy and friendly. I have noticed most of the eggs I've cooked since Christmas have been fertile. (We've seen big dots/bullseyes rather than the non-fertile little speck.)

I'm still at the stage of discovery where I'm deciding what types of chickens really interest me. I hope to get some breeder quality birds this year. I've been trying to network with local people at swaps, but the last I attended was in September. So far I have all large fowl and two Silkie roosters. I still don't have my much-hoped-for broody mama hen, but I'm working on it!

I just started setting aside some of our eggs this week to hatch with some eggs I thought would be ready for pick up. My husband would much rather I sell you these eggs and put off hatching a bit longer. I'll pm you with our price for "eating eggs" if you think these will be acceptable for you.

Soon to be a virginia resident and i could use some help. I will be moving to Chantilly in northern virginia.

I want to keep my bunnies and poultry. The only way i can though is if i find someone who will let me board them. I would like to find someone no further then an hour from Chantilly, VA. I plan on supplying my own food, bedding, hay, and cages as well as traveling every day to take care of them.
I have 18 rabbits and 10 chickens, 2 guineas, and 2 ducks. I won't be moving until this semester of college is done so like in June so i have a bit of time. As it draws closer i plan on posting on craigslist and the local papers down there. I just thought i would try here as i have posted on pet chickens of virginia and east coast chickens and rabbit habbit and rabbit talk.

So, any thoughts, ideas, or anyone that wants to lemme board em? We can talk about prices and whatever else i should know.

I have a moving issue also - it's tough to give up the ones we love, isn't it????

Moving rare dorkings and favorelles if possible - if not, then I can't keep them in a hotel. They would have to go. I will be moving to NE VA.

I would be willing to pay for boarding, food, etc. and if you were interested in some rare heritage chickens that could be put on the table as well.

The closer you are to NE VA, the better for the arrangement to work- but anything is possible at this point since moving date is nearing the end of Feb.

If you would like to see these wonderfully healthy and beautiful chickens, you can click on my BYC page under my avatar. The second page is entitled "faverolls" at the top.

The estimated boarding period would be for 60 to 90 days.

Have lots of room and love rare heritage chickens? Then let's talk!
