Virginia

Hi, I'm fairly new to BYC and I'm in Loudoun County Virginia. I have 4 red Sex Links and will be looking to expand my flock in the spring by 6 to 8 more pullets (not all the same kind). I've only been a chicken owner for 3 years and I believe I've become hooked on the wonderful fowl and now I need more! How do I find other chicken owners in my area that are willing to sell me one or two pullets of the same bread? I'd like to pick my new chickens out in person, I don't want to mail order. can anyone tell me how to go about this? ... P.S. I'm not ready for baby peeps yet..

Beautiful day. Cool and clear - thank goodness that wind finally quit, it had TEETH!

What sorts of chickens do you have?
I have been collecting (scavenging) for a long time to get enough pieces to put together a small coop. Then yesterday I found out that a neighbor has a BIG shed that I can HAVE! They offered it a couple of years ago but I had no way to move it so I passed. I thought that was that, but he asked yesterday if I was EVER going to come get it. As soon as I can find or rent a trailer I'm gonna grab it! FINALLY! A flock in the spring.

Hello all,
I'm brand new to incubating eggs and I've read the humidity needed depends on your locale. So what humidity do you use here in VA? I'm located in King George County, by the way.
Thanks

I have used the "dry hatch" method and kept the incubating humidity around 35 and lockdown humidity around 75 and all has worked well for me. In Charlottesville.
