I discovered today that my Easter Egger can get over the garden gate, and likes to take leisurely walks down the street. Two houses down, past the fenced yard of Mr Jerkface, every morning about 6. According to that neighbor, she's been doing it over a week, pokes around their front lawn for an hour or so, and then wanders back home to get into the yard before I notice she's missing.
I can't allow that, so I have to come up with a way to keep her from flying over the fence. The city allows hens, but not 'at large', and there are the occasional stray dog or car or rotten kid.
Neighbor was a little sad to hear she wasn't going to get her morning chicken visit, but I told her she can come by to visit any time she likes. After a little visit to my garden, with chickens and bees, she is now considering a couple of hens for herself. Easter Eggers, of course, as she has fallen in love with mine and adores the idea of blue or green eggs.
I also told her about my broody hen, and the fertile eggs arriving later today, and she may be adopting two of the extra hens from that hatching.
Hooray for my little chicken ambassador!

Solution has been found, have a scrap piece of wire fencing, basically a long wire with regular prongs sticking up. Attaching to the top of the gate like those things they use to keep pigeons from landing on signs. She can't quite fly over it, but can land ON it and then jump down. She seems to be the only one that can, the RIR, Australorp, and Wellsummer are all too fat.
