vitamins and electrolytes for healthy chick

I have two chicks, one has been very lethargic, so I added vitamins and electrolytes to their water. The package said for poultry recovering from stress, such as shipping. It seemed to help the lethargic chick a little (am going to try corid or sumlet next) but the other chick is now running around like he is on speed. Was it a bad idea to give it to him also? Can it hurt him?

So many people do not realize that V&E is a drug. And this drug can cause as much harm as the thing we're trying to fix.

Vitamins A, D, E and K can become toxic if there is a build up in the fatty tissues. Electrolytes are the minerals any living organism needs to help keep all of the systems in balance. An over load of these minerals puts stress on the kidneys and the heart.

Remember to remove the V&E before you begin the Sulmet or Amprol, whichever it is you purchase.

But for the time being I think the V&E might be necessary. You could also purchase polyvisol children's vitamins to add to their water and skip the electrolytes. You can dose just the downed peep with a drop of the vitamins on its beak.
