Voice box? Or lump?

I just bought a mini Nubian and I noticed a bump on her throat. I’m new to Nubians and I’ve never noticed this on any of my ND. Is it just her voice box? (She’s pretty loud lol)

Curiously, do goats get anything like the equine disease called strangles?

It could be an abscess or it could be a goiter. If it turns out to be an abscess, contact me and I will tell you how to deal with it. CL abscesses sometimes appear in that location. If it is CL, no matter what ANYONE tells you don't panic. I may not know everything there is to know about goats, but I do know about CL and abscesses. Goat people get absolutely hysterical at the very thought of CL but it really isn't all that difficult to deal with. You do not want any abscess to rupture spontaneously out in the barns or corrals and contaminate the premises though. If you need more information, PM me. By the way, not all abscesses are CL, but I treated all abscesses the same.

As @cassie explained goats can get CL, or caseous lymphadenitis. It a contagious form of abscesses that occur generally in the lymph nodes.
