Hi All
Long time lurker on this forum and want to say thanks for all the information. My family has been keeping chickens for a little over a year now. We lost most of our flock to predators when they were free range so have a second generation that we started this year. We had RI Reds, Gunnie hens and Americans but are down to one surviving RI Red. We have about 20 10 week old chicks that just got a new run this past weekend. Its a 12x12' run with a 8' peak so we can walk in.
Any suggestions on "security" for the ground? I was thinking of putting garden edging in. We haven’t had any issues for the past year with to coop, only when they free range. We have had issues with hawks, foxes and coyotes and we also have bears and fisher cats in the area. We hope to be able to move the structure below around the yard a little so I don’t want to burry wire….

I will be replacing the shipping crate coop with a 12' purina design some time this summer. I will likely build the coop outside the run to help make it easier to move but i have a feeling i may need to use the winch on my Jeep to move the coop.
