Vorwerks

I have two hens, and a pullet chick in my grow out pen. Mine aren't great layers, but aren't terrible by any means. They are among the more inquisitive of my flock, roam the furthest, come closest to you, enjoy foraging. I like them. Here's Angela in the stream (currently dried up due to the sun).

I only bring in hatching eggs in the interest of biosecurity. The youngest pullet is from a set of mixed-breed hatching eggs, but is clearly pure vorwerk (a mix would not have that colour pattern). Angela was from eBay eggs; I bought six, and five hatched. The other four were cockerels, but were not kept due to their dispositions. The other hen was from eggs from a private breeder, but out of twelve, she was the only one to hatch; I suspect that she was not well-bred. Hopefully you can get your hands on some; they really are lovely.
