voting in today's America

We were hanging out and chatting and work yesterday. A co-worker said "I heard on the news that Kid Rock sang with one of the candidates. I'm going to vote for him." She didn't even know which candidate it was, but she is crazy for Kid Rock, so that decided the race for her. She figured that she would hear another news blurb and catch the candidates name and TADA she would be ready for the election.

Oh we get that here too, anything for the politicians to get celebrities on their side, fans would be flocking to vote for him.

I don't mind that. At least they are voting for someone for a real reason, though a crappy one.... What I hate is the "I am voting for X cause the news said Y cant win" crowd.
