WA state breeders or hatcheries??

Does anyone know of any chicken breeders or hatcheries in WA? I am new to raising chickens and need somewhere to start! We’ll be building our coop next week and for my first few chickens I’m thinking of starting with some a little older than baby chicks. I want them as pets but also as egg layers
Thank you!
I really like Meyer Hatcheries, but they are in Ohio. They have a great selection and usually you get them the day after they are hatched. I live in California and have seven chickens from this hatchery.I think it is a good idea if you want them as pets if you get them as day old chicks. That’s what I did and they follow me around everywhere and call to me whenever I go into my backyard. They follow me around more than my two dogs do!

What part of Washington? Particular breeds you want? Are you looking for production type or exhibition type?
...there are lots of folks with started birds available out here right now(I'm in the pnw too) but a lot will depend on what you are seeking

I’m in University Place (Tacoma).
We are looking for smaller breed chickens. I like silkies and Easter Eggers.

Theres an urban supply right down by the university district in seattle that sells a variety of breeds and ages (visited them for a chicken fix while there for a training...was pleasantly surprised to discover them right around from my hotel.
You might also check out Northwest livestock for sale on facebook....there are a few folks there that do started and pint of lay birds

Ah I'm not too far from you. I'm doing my own breeding but they are hybrids. How much older than chicks were you looking for? (How many months old?)

Currently I have a light Brahma rooster over my hens which are dual purpose birds and reliable egg layers. Which basically includes easter eggers (theyre my favorite!) And the following: Leghorn, wyandotte, welsummer, and brahmas. I'm doing monthly incubations as well.

If you're not finding what you're looking for, you can always check Wilco farm store in Puyallup Canyon area. They sell live chicks. Not sure about silkies but you can get some EEs there.

I was thinking 3-4 months old. My toddler isn’t the most gentle and I would hate for him to pick one up and hurt it.
The breed isn’t too important I suppose. I like them all :) My dad and I are going to be raising them together and he just wants to pick them out. He had chickens as a kid and loved them. He had a variety of bantams I think so that’s what he wants this time around.

Oh that's sounds too sweet!! Raising them can be so rewarding, and I do hope you enjoy the experience!

Also, excuse my manners, but welcome to the forum! There are so many resources here, and soooo many breeds to check out.

As far as Bantams, I'm afraid I don't know where to find those reliably. Sometimes stores like Wilco, tractor supply, and even Ace hardware bring in chicks and do rarely bring in bantams. Wilco in my experience has the best variety of chicks to offer. They usually offer many different breeds along with ducks and turkeys and guinea if you're ever interested in those. They are worth a check or at least a phone call (but for strict day old chicks). I also feel like finding that age is going to also be tricky, but I do get where you're coming from...

All else fails, you can always look for Bantams on Craigslist and see if someone is selling off theirs.

My first chicks hatched about a month ago, so the youngest birds I have are a month old.
