Hello everyone !! Just purchased a wafer thermostat for my homemade incubator do you mount the wafer vertical or horizontal ??? I have it horizontal and having temp problems. Thanks for any help or tips anyone has !!

probs as in big swings? how many watts is your bulb? a lot of people find high watt bulbs give them unstable temps. try 25W.

also, you're going by some kind of wiggler temp, not air temp, right?

I am using a 40 watt right now, I was using a water heater thermostat hatched out little ducks then put in turkey eggs and hatched 2 and heater went nuts and cooked the other eggs, so I bought the wafer, hopefully I can get the temp right in the next 2 days !! thanks for the help.

This is an old thread, but the wafer can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Some Styrofoam incubators have a horizontal mount and the 1502 bators had vertical wafers before they went digital.
