Hovabatror 1602N. 2nd /3rd year. have 2.First year lots of errors, bad hatches (duck and goose eggs.) realized it was in a room with lots of air changes (laundry room to garage)..didn't understand spikes, thermometers eh.
2nd year better moved to stable inner darkened room with temps within 5 degrees (room air).(70).
Now I understand there can be. spikes near end of hatch. But. I am getting a 103-4 + in afternoon or sometimes mid morning. So I turned it down a bit , till light went off or 1/4-1/2 turn (tried both). I am also lightly spraying once , turning 3x day, cooling as "Storeys Guide to Ducks" and "Geese" outlines. I am trying to keep it between 101.5 and 102.5 . Have a week to go more or less on the duck and goose eggs. full incubator, humidity around 40%.
I did have a terrible time with 6 different thermometers, but finally got the one from Incubator warehouse and also am using a human digital one and an oral one and have them almost the same.finally.
so if I turn it down I am getting 97-99. If I turn it up till light goes on , usually 1/4-1/2 turn it goes to 103-4+. I have tried cutting the turns back to less but seem to be stuck.....the other Hovabator same model is more stable, but the eggs in it are 2-3 weeks behind. .
Because of the thermometer isssues, I am not sure how stable the temps were in beginning. The eggs are developing. But I had to throw some in beginning weeks.....
I am beginning to wonder if the wafer can't sense or respond properly..... yet most people say their Hovabators gave better results than most..... Right now I am turning it down and cooling in the day sometimes, and turning it up other times, it's yo yoing sort of, but I am trying to leave it alone unless it is getting below 100 or above 103.....
