Wait for broody to lay an egg before reinstating her?

do you mean before putting her back in a normal set up with roos to be mated??? If so, I never heard that before-but I wouldn't put a broody intentionally out with the males when she is in her "mode"..I have brooder cages-that any broody hen can be broody and safe from being easy targets of mating and such...
