My beautiful mottled cochan roo named Peep Daddy, who is about 8-9 months old got frost bite this week I just noticed he had a place on his wattle about the size of a large pea. he had a small place on one of the peaks of his comb but its gone. last night when I found it I put anitbiotic ointment on it and his comb felt warm and he wasnt as standoff ish as usual.but didnt think much about it. this morning when I went out to let them out he normally stomps his feet at me acting all cocky but not this morning he moved toward me then just went down stairs. I gave him his waterer and he drank some he didnt do his usual dance trying to get the girls in the next pen to pay him attention he just stood near the waterer. so I went back and picked him up his didnt try to get away from me as usual, and I turned him over to see a bunch of feather wet about the size of your fist. on the side of the vent going toward his chest. I notice were he sleeps at nite there was no poo just a little wet spot which came from the wet feathers. I have brought him in and am going to clean him up and keep him in the house to watch him. I have seen no worms or runny poo in any of my chickens they seem very healthy. Please help me with some good advice.
Update he has been drinking alot since I brought him in I went and picked him up and when I turned him over it came back out his beak and I could see it seeping out his vent. I took him over to the sink looked down his beak no worms when I turned him over again a bunch of water came out. his crop was soft and squishy when I first brought him in now its harder because of the water. his crop doest smell and it was fine feeling before he drank so much I am concerned because it seems to be going in one end and out the other he is totally soaked on his underside. I dried him off when he came in the house and now he is soaked!!!

It sounds like there is definitely something wrong. I don't know what those symptoms mean, but one thing is... if he just drank water and then you turn him outside down, THAT might make water come out of his beak again. But perhaps someone else on here can help more than I.

oh dear, I won't be of expert help but I can tell you you need to get electrolites in to him . . . if you don't have the chicken stuff on hand get some gatorade or pedialite or even molasses in the water and keep him hydrated.

Probably best to keep him inside, warm and as dry (as possible), with food and water handy.

Is he eating?

The antibiotic ointment- did it have any pain reliever such as lidocaine in it? Never use anything with a "caine" in it on chickens.

I say for now to try not to turn him over to look at him, since he could aspirate the liquid coming up. Then wait and see what happens, there's nothing really specific yet to act on.

Hope your Cochin roo improves.

thanks for the help keep it coming. I have had him inside all day he is not eating he only wants to drink so once a hour I give him several sips so he wont over do it like this morning. I let him on the porch to see if he would walk around and he did alittle and pooped white water and thats the only thing he has pooped since yesterday the water just seems to go right through him. if anyone else has any ideas chime in
thanks
