Waiting 6-8 hours to gut after kill

It won't make the meat poison, but it will change the flavor.

You will find that killing and plucking takes the time and the gutting just takes a few seconds. So process all the way through gutting them, rinse them inside and out, then refrigerate and go back later and clean them up and package them. They can wait 2-3 days for that final processing.

The final cleaning and cutting into parts, wrapping and freezing, can be done in the kitchen,which means it can be done after dark and after the kids are in bed.
