my Ameraucanas are 5 months old next week and tonight I noticed one of my girls has a very red face. I'm hoping this means eggs are close. The other girls faces are pale pink still. Am i correct with my diagnosis? Start watching for new eggs?

Are any of them squatting? This is usually one of the main indicators but is not guaranteed- one f mine never did the full squat before starting to lay but all my others did. Her comb was very pink when she started, and still is, although less so now and she's been laying for a month.

I had more indication of laying by them going in and out of the nest boxes to check them out

Hope you don't have to wait much longer :)

I have 8 laying hens and in the last few days I am only getting 1 or2 eggs been used to getting 6 to 8 daily. We did move them to the new coop over a week ago, and it have been raining like mad here, in central Texas. Could it be the move or the rain or both worried mommy
