Waiting for my babies in VA.

Hi,

Just ordered my chicks today and I am so excited. This is our first time raising chickens. We ordered Black Australorps, Speckled Sussex, Golden Laced Wyandottes and Silver Laced Wyandottes.

We have lots of land (for our area), a large garden and 7 beagles. We rescue beagles also! The chickens will be free ranged when they get old enough to be outside. We are hoping to train one of our dogs to look out for the chickens.

If this works out we are moving on to Turkey's next year (and goats if my husband has his way!).

Thanks for the greetings! No, I can't have Buff Orpingtons (yet!). The hatchery was backed up until the end of June for those so they will be added to our flock next year. We are aiming for 30 birds right now - we have lots of friends who want the egg s(plus my dogs eat raw eggs or hard boiled eggs regularly so that's 49 eggs spoken for if they were to get one every day - that's if I get overwhelmed).
