I'm waiting on that first duck egg! I've got a group of 5 campbell hens that were hatched on July 7th and I'm anxious to see those first eggs! My layer hybrids are behind them with an august 4th hatch date and I added 3 year-old Magpie and Buff ducks wondering if they'd drop some eggs for me while I waited on my campbells but nothing from those girls either

<_<

Anyone have some ideas to encourage them? can I pipe some Barry White music into the duck house or something?

Just got my first egg from my Welshies this morning! Took 5 1/2 months! They were born early May........

I was invited to a new farmers market (it'll be the only one in the immediate area) as an egg vendor. No pressure or anything! lol

I think you might be waiting a bit longer...mine were hatched end of May and I'm not really expecting eggs till about Thanksgiving. I understand it can happen earlier but I wouldn't count on it!

I'm hopeful, we have a ridiculous amount of daylight here so I don't think the time of year will interfere. Feathers crossed!

Well!
One of my girls must have gotten miffed about me writing that post yesterday because this morning I GOT MY FIRST EGG!!!
No idea who did it, but I'm just so tickled! It's a whole month early!

I was also waiting patiently for my first eggs from my Anconas, my husband had a idea to put a grow light (used for plants and aquariums) in the ducks nesting/pond area, as it seemed to help my quail and chickens lay. A week after he put up their new light, I started to get eggs. They were hatched the middle of May, so this might be a coincidence. Best of luck!
