Waiting on Eggs

My girls are 251/2 weeks old. I’m wondering if it’s too late in the year to expect eggs due to shorter and shorter days. My spotted Sussex, Dottie, has been squatting for about 3 weeks. She also enters the nesting box 1 or more times daily and fits on the golf ball I have sitting there. Her comb and wattles are a bright rosy red. I thought she would lay s couple weeks back, but still nothing. Could she be egg-bound? Is she going to wait until spring? It just seems she shows every sign, but still nothing.

She may be trying to expel a shell-less egg. Two of my pullets started out with a shell-less. One of those two laid a second shell-less after three perfect eggs.
Sounds like you'll get some eggs this year.
