Wal-Mart shake-up??

Walmart's is probably one of the biggest contributors to our present economical condition, and the recession.

Did you know that WM will price match?

But the stores won't match their own online prices.

I was excited for the Walmart to open by us. I was hoping to be able to buy things they don't sell locally, and the store was being built kinda eco-friendly with passive solar and stuff like that. They had lots of organic goods when they opened too. That's practically all gone now. I still have to drive over an hour to finish my shopping at Publix. I've spoken to the manager and the produce guy several times about getting/keeping things in stock. They keep telling me- "I ordered it and it wasn't on the truck." and "I know- I could sell so much at this store (turnip greens that I buy for my chickens)" Somebody somewhere isn't listening to what the customers want.
Someone needs to take responsibility for that- or it will cost them customers and jobs.

On the other hand- maybe it's just my "conspiracy theory" thinking- I think that a lot of companies are cutting jobs and using the recession as an excuse. The economy is recovering, GDP is up and lots of other stats I won't go into.

I had a chicken get loose in the Walmart garden center yesterday.

Same here. They don't carry nearly the amount of stuff they used to. And who in the world was the idiot at Walmart that decided women don't need inexpensive maternity wear? I can not believe they no longer carry maternity clothes!

The Wal-Mart in Claremore, OK still carries maternity clothes. Oftentimes it deals with the local economy. If there are several stores that specialize in maternity clothes in your area, your Wal-Mart may stop carrying maternity clothes. Or, if maternity clothes have not been a constant mover on the sales floor, again, the Maternity section may leave. Why stock something that isn't going to sell? There's always online purchases to help with inexpensive maternity clothing.

Its ashame they are letting people go.

As a paying customer I hate how they have *improved* the walmarts. You can never find an employee to help you when you need it. And they don't carry nearly half the stuff they used to. Also you can never find anything in their new store layouts. I shop else where for stuff that I need when I have to.

It is a lie, that they will match prices, also for lowes. They will unless you have a chance to really stick it too them, then they will back out, both walmart and lowes has on me.

There are 4 Walmart stores within 20 miles of me and not one carries maternity anymore. Is that because we're close to Raleigh and several specialty maternity stores (and their crazy high prices)? Who knows. I can't imagine buying maternity clothes without trying them on... no way, no how. Oh well, there is a Motherhood outlet not too far from me...

Wal-Mart cannot take a person's word that something is on sale. The advertised price MUST be shown as well as being the same product. For example, if you tell the cashier that eggs are 2/ $1 and do not have the ad, no way is she going to risk her job by selling you an item at a reduced price.

If the ad says a specific brand and size, then there's little the cashier can do. Go to that store and purchase it, Wal-Mart can only match prices for items that are in the store.
